If We Knew

If we knew when Jesus was coming, that exact day

Would we act the same, would our lives change in any way

Would our hearts finally be ready to welcome Jesus in

And humbly ask Him to forgive all of our sin

If we knew when Jesus was coming, that exact day

Could we cast all of our worldly pleasures away

Giving up all desires that our human flesh does crave

To follow our Lord, for He alone our soul can save

If we knew when Jesus was coming, that exact day

Could we let all our business matters lay

Could we forget all our worldly financial cares

And quietly await the Lord with our prayers.

If we knew when Jesus was coming, that exact day

As a church what would we do, what would we say

Would we be working on building projects from the ground

Or letting everyone know how Jesus can be found.

But we will never know that exact day

For God alone has that knowledge stored away

And each will have their own time, one and all

To be summoned by the Master’s call.

We should all be prepared for our last day

For any minute or second our Lord can take us away

But if we put Jesus first and look to Him above

We are always immersed in His life saving love.

Those in Jesus do not fear any day

For continually our Savior wipes all our sins away

And His grace will change our bodies to a glorified state

When He leads us through Heaven’s great golden gate.
