Stand Up For Our God
*But he who denies Me before men will be
denied
before the angels of God. Lk 12:9 NKJV+
1. God’s Children
Love Him above all thing; our neighbors as ourselves
2. If we love Jesus, we will obey His words and commands.
3. We will be judged by the words of Jesus, by the Word of God
4. Believers do not
mind being warned, our acts judged in love by other believers
5. Believers should
ignore being judged by unbelievers; by the politically correctness of this
world
6. Some warnings from
Jesus we should stand up for; pass on to all
7. We must reach out
to unbelievers
8. Hold responsible;
think they are believers, but are not
9. Hold together the
Children of God
10. Always praying
for others, for strength for ourselves
1. God’s Children
Love Him above all thing; our neighbors as ourselves
Our God is love, loves all of us with a love which is beyond our human comprehension. Our Heavenly Father wants all of us to become His children, to love Him above all things, and our neighbors as ourselves.
*And he answered, “You shall love the
Lord your God with
all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have
answered correctly; do this, and you
will live.” Lk 10:27-28
ESV+
*Both the one who makes men holy
and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not
ashamed to call
them brothers. Heb 2:11 NIV+
We must come into the total reality that believers cannot love any person more than we love our God; including our spouse, children, any other family members, close friends, or any other person. And last but not least, we cannot love ourselves, our own lives more than we love Jesus.
*"Anyone who loves his father or mother
more than me is not worthy of me;
anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; Matt 10:37 NIV+
*and anyone
who does not take his cross and follow
me is not worthy of me. Whoever
finds his life will lose it, and whoever
loses his life for my sake will find it. Matt
10:38-39 NIV+
2. If we love Jesus, we will obey His words and commands.
And when we love Him above all things we will want to obey Him, do our Father’s will, which He has given in His Word. So we can remain children of God, spiritual brothers and sisters of Jesus.
*Jesus answered
and said to him, "If anyone loves Me,
he will keep My word; and My Father
will love him, and We will come to
him and make Our home with him. Jn 14:23 NKJV+
*“If you love me, you will
keep my commandments. Jn 14:15 ESV+
*This is love for
God: to obey his
commands. And his commands are not
burdensome, for everyone born of God
overcomes the world. This is the victory
that has overcome the world,
even our faith. 1Jn 5:3-4 NIV+
We will hate sin, hate evil, yet love all people; while standing up for our God, never denying Him.
*Love
must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is
good. Ro 12:9 NIV+
*"But I say to you who hear,
love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those
who mistreat you. Lk 6:27-28
NASB+
*"Therefore whoever confesses Me
before men, him I will also confess
before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who
is in heaven. Matt 10:32-33 NKJV+
3. We will be judged by the words of Jesus, by the Word of God
We will all be judged by the words Jesus gave us, by the words Paul gave us, by all the verses in the Word of God, when they are used in context with each other. Believers who love our Savior above all things, will strive to obey His commands, His words; will overcome the world by our faith.
*He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has
that which judges him--the word that
I have spoken will judge him in the last
day. Jn 12:48 NKJV+
*in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel. Ro 2:16 NKJV+
In love we should tell others how we can come to our God.
And warn them about the trials and troubles we will all face, those which our
Savior will judge us on, if we loving doing them, more than we love obeying our
Savior.
*And the ones
on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But
these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of
testing fall away. Lk 8:13 ESV+
*And as for what fell among the thorns,
they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by
the cares and riches and pleasures of
life, and their fruit does not
mature. Lk 8:14 ESV+
4. Believers do not
mind being warned, our acts judged in love by other believers
A spiritual believer, one who has been renewed by the Spirit, lets Him guide us through the Word; should warn believers, and judge their acts in love. Like Paul warned us; those who commit the obvious sinful acts of our flesh will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
*The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself
to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ. 1Co
2:15-16 ESV+
*The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity
and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and
envy; drunkenness, orgies, and
the like. I warn you, as I did before,
that those who live like this will not
inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:19-21
NIV+
*All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof,
for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man
of God may be competent, equipped for every good work. 2Ti 3:16-17
ESV+
When Jesus warns us to “Judge not, that you be not judged” in Matt 7:1 ESV+; He is warning us not to be hypocrites when we judge the acts of others. For as we follow the context in verse 5 below; we are still to take the speck out of our brother’s eye, we are still to warn them, judge their acts out of love; help them through their temptations, so they remain children of God. But Jesus tells us we can only do this when the Spirit is guiding us in love through the Word. So we have taken the log, our sins including our pride, out of our eye, our heart. For we are all sinners, we are no better than anyone else, we have done nothing to earn our forgiveness, it is a free gift which our Savior gives us through His grace.
*Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’
when there is the log in your own eye? You
hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will
see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. Matt 7:3-5 ESV+
*Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.
Ro 2:1 NASB+
We should judge others’ acts with a righteous judgment, for how we judge others, is how our Lord will judge us.
*"Do not judge according to
appearance, but judge with righteous
judgment." Jn 7:24 NASB+
*"For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be
measured to you. Matt 7:2-3
NASB+
Although we should judge the acts of others, we should not judge the intent in the hearts of any, for only our God knows what is in our hearts, whether we will receive blessings in Heaven or whether one is going to Hades.
*And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight
of men, but God knows your hearts;
for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable
in the sight of God. Lk 16:15
NASB+
*'And I will kill her children with pestilence , and all the churches will know
that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I
will give to each one of you according to
your deeds. Rev 2:23 NASB+
Believers should also honestly judge our own sins, so we are not disciplined by our Lord. And by faith Jesus will forgive our sins, make us holy by His blood shed on the cross.
*But if we
judged ourselves truly, we would not
be judged. But when we are
judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may
not be condemned along with the world. 1Co
11:32-33 ESV+
*And although you were formerly
alienated and hostile in mind, engaged
in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled
you in His fleshly body through
death, in order to present you
before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— Col 1:21-22 NASB+
And our Father will remember our sins no more. We will not have any sins to be judged on regarding our salvation. We have already received eternal life in Heaven while we still live here on earth. We will be only judged on our works, and accordingly receive rewards in Heaven. 1Co 3:12-15
*Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more." Heb 10:17 NIV+
*"Truly, truly, I say to
you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. Jn 5:24 NASB+
5. Believers should
ignore being judged by unbelievers; by the politically correctness of this
world
It is easy to understand why unbelievers do not like being warned, and ultimately judged by the words of Jesus. For those whose minds are set on the flesh, their own worldly thinking, are hostile to God, they will not submit to God’s law, they cannot please God. They reject Jesus; do not receive His words, which will judge them in the last days and sentence them to Hell.
*For the mind
that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s
law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh
cannot please God. Ro
8:7-8 ESV+
*He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him
in the last day. Jn 12:48 NKJV+
Unbelievers will be convicted by the very words of Jesus, will be judged on each and every sin they have ever committed; each careless word they have ever spoken.
*He
who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not
Mine but the Father's
who sent Me. Jn 14:24 NKJV+
*But I tell you that men will have to give
account on the day
of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. Matt 12:35 NIV+
We should not let unbelievers judge us. They have not received the indwelling of the Spirit to guide them, they are spiritually discerned, they do not know what the Word says, much less judge us. Unbelievers can only use their own sinful human intellect to judge us; often using the Word out of context. They are merely trying to justify their sinful acts, which are evil before our God.
*The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the
mind of the Lord so as to instruct
him?” But we have the mind of
Christ. 1Co 2:15-16 ESV+
*But the natural man does not receive the things
of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co
2:14 NKJV+
6. Some warnings from
Jesus we should stand up for; pass on to all
Jesus also clearly lists some specific acts which are sins,
which will keep our names from being written in the Book of Life; be thrown into
Hell, the lake of fire.
*But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable,
murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars
shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Rev 21:7-8 NKJV+
*and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying,
shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's
book of life. Rev 21:27 NASB+
Cowardly
In the 20th century more Christians have been killed, martyred, than all of the other centuries combined. Here in the U.S. at this time this reality is coming closer as the prophecies of end times are being fulfilled. The hardest part for Christians will be when any have to watch our loved ones, including little children, be killed, or die from hunger or lack of water; because we will not deny Jesus. We cannot ever do this on our own, but with the help of our God all things are possible
*Then each of them was given a
white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of
their fellow servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed. Rev 6:11 NIV+
*And it was allowed to give breath to the
image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might
cause those who would not worship the
image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both
small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the
right hand or the forehead, so that no
one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name. Rev 13:15-17
ESV+
Yet being cowardly also pertains to the world we are living in. We must stand up to the “Political Correct lies” which are being used by the liberal elite to promote socialism. These lies are trying to control believers, especially women and the younger generations. These lies try to put us on the defensive in our social world, in our educational system, and sadly within some of our congregations as well. We can recognize the evil of political correctness quite easily; if it does not keep the commandments of our God, those promoting it are liars and the truth is not in them.
*By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. 1Jn 2:3-6 NASB+
Political correctness is merely the humanistic ideals,
beliefs, and agenda of the liberal elite. They try to judge society with their
lies; not allowing the Word of God to have any influence on us. They use “buzz”
words to try and intimidate us; make us more scared of being labeled these
social unacceptable things; than standing up for our God, His Holy name, His
Holy word. And it is working.
*“If
you love me, you will keep my commandments. Jn 14:15 ESV+
We must use the Word of God when we face political correctness, even when we are called bigots or haters; because we hate all sins, even though we love the sinner.
We love our God, we love all people. Because we love our God, we obey His commands. If the world’s definition of “bigot” is one who loves and obeys our God; follows His commands, then we are bigots, will always be bigots.
*Let the lying
lips be put to silence, Which speak insolent things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. Ps 31:18 NKJV+
Our God only created 2 races, the Jews and the Gentiles. Racism does not define hate, nor is any part of
sin. For hating any person has always been a sin; regardless of whether one is
hated because they are a Jew or Gentile, regardless if one is hated by what
nationality they are, what sexual orientation, or whether they are a friend or
enemy.
*Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. 1 Jn 3:15 NKJV+
*Love
must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is
good. Ro 12:9 NIV+
We should do unto others as we would have them do unto us.
It does not matter if one is rich or poor; powerful or weak. We want to help
all so they can have a successful life; both with our Lord and in their
physical lives. While not being taken advantage of by those who are unwilling
to work, change their lifestyle to be successful; both with our Lord and in
their physical lives.
*Do to others as
you would have them do to you. Lk 6:31 NIV+
Murder includes
abortion, suicide
Our bodies are not our own, women’s bodies are not their own; men’s bodies, women’s bodies and unborn babies minuscule bodies all belong to Jesus. For he has purchased us with His blood on the cross, a price so great we will never be able to pay him back. Our bodies then became a sacred Temple in which the Holy Spirit lives in our hearts; and our Father will destroy any who destroys our body.
*Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1Co 6:19-20 ESV+
*Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple. 1Co 3:16-17 NIV+
It is a sin to have an abortion, kill an unborn baby in the
womb. Women’s bodies belong to God, as do any unborn babies in the womb which
have been created in the image of God. Our Father would have us kill no one who
has been created in His image. And a baby is created in the image of our God,
given life, when they first attach to their mother’s womb; and the Spirit
creates a spiritual being, within their miniscule physical body. See Abortion
*"Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man. Gen
9:6 NKJV+
It is a sin for you to take your own life; for the government or others to assist you indirectly to kill yourself if you are old, or have a specific illness which may soon kill you. Letting one die naturally by taking off life support is a determination the person or family can make.
*He said to him, “Which ones?”
And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall
not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not
bear false witness, Matt 19:18 ESV+
We do not have to worry about the acts of
believers whose minds become unstable, including suicide. For if the Spirit was
in our hearts, He will pray for us, intercede for us, and sanctify us, until we
are well, or until we are taken home by Jesus.
*In the same way the Spirit
also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should,
but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings
too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the
mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to
the will of God. Ro 8:26-27 NIV+
Hating your brother
is a sin. Has nothing to do with racism; it is hating
anyone regardless of race, it does not matter who does the hating. We are not
to hate any person, we are only to hate the sinful
actions of anyone, for those are evil.
*Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him. 1 Jn 3:15 NKJV+
*Love
must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is
good. Ro 12:9 NIV+
We cannot be children of our God, and follow Him, and be part of this world its many pleasures; for if we are lukewarm our Savior will spit us out of His mouth. We must understand any sin no matter how small, if not forgiven will keep us from being with our God, and condemn us to Hell. And we will be judged on everything we have ever done.
*So, because
you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out
of my mouth. Rev 3:16 ESV+
*For whoever shall keep the whole
law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. Ja 2:10 NKJV+
*And I saw the dead, great and small,
standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was
opened, which is the book of life. And the dead
were judged by what was written
in the books, according to what they had done. Rev
20:12 ESV+
We will be judged on our sins whether we knew it was a sin
or not. Though there will be different punishments handed out depending on
whether we had heard about Jesus, the severity of our sins. See Matt
11:20-22; Heb 2:2-3, 10:39-41
*And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom
much was given, of him much will be
required, and from him to whom they entrusted
much, they will demand the more.
Lk 12:47-48 ESV+
*Jesus
answered him, “You would have no
authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore he
who delivered me over to you has the
greater sin.” Jn 19:11 ESV+
Any who will not admit their sins, not hate their sins
because they are evil, strive to commit then no more; and be sincerely
repentant for committing them; loves their sins more than they love Jesus. Their own mind has disconnected them
from the truth in God’s Word, keeps them from being one with Christ, and they
will face the wrath of God.
*You who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the
wicked. Ps 97:10
NKJV+
*"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." Jn 3:36 NASB+
*For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay."
And again, "The Lord will judge
His people." It is a
terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb 10:30-31 NASB+
Woman’s right over her body: All Christians, including women, do not have any right over our bodies. Jesus has purchased our bodies at a cost which we will never be able to repay; His blood and death upon the cross. Our bodies belong to Jesus and how He would have us use them. Not only does woman a have no right over her own body, she does not have the right to kill a baby in her womb; which our Heavenly Father has created in His own image.
*for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. Ro 14:8 NASB+
Sexually Immoral
Paul elaborates on these sins, making some more definitive. Sexually
immoral refers to all sexual sins - See Some Specific Sins
*Or do you not know
that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be
deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers,
will inherit the
Fornication
is a synonym for sexual immorality. Here Paul is probably referring to sexual
purity, having sex relations only after a man and woman have been married. Some believe you are married when you are engaged,
others after you have consensual sexual relations for the first time.
*"Haven't you read," he replied,
"that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and
said, 'For this reason a man will
leave his father and mother and be united
to his wife, and the two will become one flesh' Matt 19:4-5
(NIV)
*Marriage is
honorable among all, and the bed
undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. Heb 13:4 NKJV+
*Therefore consider
the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts
to idolatry.
Adultery: A man and woman having sexual relations with anyone who is not your spouse.
*“You
shall not commit adultery. Ex 20:14 ESV+
Sexual lusting:
any who think about sexual pleasures from one who is not their spouse;
pornography is destroying many.
*For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. 1Jn 2:16 NKJV+
“You have heard that it was
said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to
you that everyone who looks at a woman
with lustful intent has already committed adultery with
her in his heart. Matt 5:27-28
ESV+
Effeminate,
homosexuals: 2 men having sex relations together or 2 women having sex
relations together
*For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable
passions. For their women exchanged
natural relations for those that are contrary
to nature; and the men likewise
gave up natural relations with women
and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving
in themselves the due penalty for their
error. Ro 1:26-27 ESV+
Homophobic: We
are not homophobic; we are homo-save-you. Though homosexual acts are detestable
to us, we love the homosexuals. Though we warn you of Hell to get your
attention; we are far more interested in saving your soul. We want to make you
our brothers and sisters in Christ, children of our Heavenly Father, and heirs
of Heaven with us.
*"'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that
is detestable. Lev 18:22 NIV+
*And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. 1Jn 4:21 ESV+
All liars
It is a sin to lie.
*'You shall not steal, nor deal
falsely, nor lie to one another. Lev 19:11 NKJV+
It is a lie to promote any cause, including political correctness which lies, or help others to promote its lies
It is a lie to “spin” the truth; make the truth not seem so bad, or make the truth seem better than it is, instead of just telling the truth.
*Let no
one deceive you with empty words,
for because of these things the wrath of
God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Eph 5:6 NKJV+
It is a lie to change the definition of words to deceive others into believing they mean something different; what you want them to mean.
It is a lie to take verses from the Word of God out of context, instead of what God intended them to say; so you can put your own meaning on them.
*Do not lie to one
another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according
to the image of Him who created him, Col 3:9-10 NKJV+
7. We must reach out
to unbelievers
We must associate with unbelievers, for they will always be around us in this world. Our Father loves the unbelievers, though He hates their evil acts; He wants us to teach them in the Word so they can become His children also.
*I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 1Co 5:9-10 ESV
*“You have heard that it was
said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so
that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good,
and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matt 5:43-45
ESV+
We love all people, want to tell unbelievers about our great
God; how Jesus died to forgive the sins of all who will believe in Him. We must also warn them about the wrath they
will face, if they do not escape the snare of the devil. While doing good works
for them, including those who hate us, are our enemies. So they can see we love
them, praise our God who wants us to love all people.
*And
a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility
correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them
repentance, so that they may know
the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape
the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. 2Ti 2:24-26
NKJV+
*Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works
and glorify your Father in heaven. Matt 5:16 NKJV+
Our
Father requires us to tell the unbelievers about Him, warn them they must turn
from their wicked ways.
*When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you shall surely die!' and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked
man shall die in his iniquity;
but his blood I will require at your hand. Nevertheless
if you warn the wicked to turn from his way,
and he does not turn from his way,
he shall die in his iniquity; but
you have delivered your soul. Eze 33:8-9 NKJV+
We should welcome unbelievers, tell them about our Savior, how we should live when we follow Jesus; discuss their beliefs and situation with them. Yet because of our different beliefs, we will always be doing things in a different way, going in different direction. And should not let unbelievers’ sinful habits become part of our lives, be accepted in our presence. We should be careful their worldly ideals, do not spill out on other believers or our children, and be accepted by them. It is easy for sinful pleasures to be brought in by unbelievers, and then spread into the lives of all of the believers around them. A little leaven (yeast) spreads through the whole lump (dough).
*Do
not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness
and wickedness have in common? Or what
fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there
between Christ and Belial? What does a believer
have in common with an unbeliever?
2Co 6:14-15 NIV+
*You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying
the truth? This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole
lump. Gal 5:7-9 NKJV+
8. Hold responsible;
think they are believers, but are not
There are many who believe they are children of God, but are really not, because they love the pleasures of their flesh, this world more than our Creator. Paul tells us anyone who claims to be our brother or sister in Christ, and yet is committing sins: without admitting they are sins, without hating the sins they are committing, is not striving to overcome them at all costs, and is not sincerely repentant for committing them; should be purged from among us, for they are evil. Their mind and conscience are defiled, disconnecting them from the truth in God’s Word, and keep them from being a child of God.
*To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving,
nothing is pure, but both their mind and
their conscience are defiled. They
profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient
and worthless for any good deed. Titus 1:15-16 NASB+
*But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality
or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a
one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”
1Co 5:11-13 ESV
These
verses explain themselves.
*For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an
idolater), has no inheritance in
the kingdom of Christ and God. Eph 5:5 ESV+
*Therefore do not
become partners with them; Eph 5:7 ESV+
*For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. Eph 5:12 ESV+
Paul
does this to try and wake up the one sinning, so he will come back to the Lord.
So all believers will know this man was sinning, and they should not be part of
it. And to let other unbelievers know the will of our God, that He hates sexual
immorality.
*It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a
kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his
father’s wife. And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from
among you. 1Co 5:1-2 ESV+
*For I indeed, as absent in body but present
in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done
this deed. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered
together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his
spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 1Co 5:3-5 NKJV+
9. Hold together the
Children of God
We
should gather together and study the Word with our brothers and sisters in
Christ. We should teach and admonish each other in all the wisdom the Spirit
gives us through the Word. We should worship our God in songs as we thank Him
for all He has done for us.
*not
forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but
encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day
drawing near. Heb 10:25 BASB+
*Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all
wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your
hearts to God. Col 3:16 ESV+
We,
with a spirit of gentleness, should let our brothers and sisters know when they
have strayed from our Lord, from His Word,. This
should be done by those who are spiritual, are one with Jesus, and have a
strong faith in Him. Always being careful we are not tempted by the sin of the
one we are trying to help.
*Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore
him gently. But watch yourself,
or you also may be tempted. Gal 6:1 NIV+
*"Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you,
you have gained your brother. Matt 18:15 NKJV+
But if your brother does not listen to you, take two others with you as witnesses. If your brother refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. If he refuses to listen to the church, do not have anything to do with him. The same way Jewish people in the time of Jesus would have nothing to do with Gentiles and tax collectors.
*But if he does not listen, take one
or two others along with you, that
every charge may be established by the
evidence of two or three
witnesses. If he refuses to
listen to them, tell it to the church.
And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
Matt 18:16-17 ESV+
Likewise
if a brother or sister does not obey what Paul has written in his gospel (letter),
do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother, and do not
associate with him. The same way we are to stay away from a brother or sister,
who leads an unruly life, does not live like a child of God.
*If
anyone does not obey our instruction
in this letter, take special note of
that person and do not associate with
him, so that he will be put to shame. Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 2Thess
3:14-15 NASB+
*Now we command you, brethren, in the name of
our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother
who leads an unruly life and not
according to the tradition which you received from us. 2Thess 3:6 NASB+
There should not be any sexual immorality, impurity, or covetousness among us, nor filthy, foolish, crude talking among us, in our lives. This includes everything in our lives, all the movies, T.V. shows, sports talk, tweeting, talking with our friend and everything else we do. While we continually thank and praise our God for all He has done for us.
*But sexual
immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as
is proper among saints. Let there be no
filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but
instead let there be thanksgiving. Eph 5:3-4 ESV+
Believers should also hold their leaders and teachers accountable to the Word of God. We can only do this when we likewise get into the Word and study it with the help of the Holy Spirit, so we know what our Father would have us do. Believers know that they must love Jesus above everything else, that if we love Him we will obey His commands. We all know sexual immorality is wrong, and that killing a baby in the womb because one does not want the child, is murder. Our leaders and teachers should also believe this, teach this.
*Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel,
who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. Rev 2:20 NKJV+
Our leaders and teachers have turned from sound doctrine; to that which the people of the world want to hear. They have accepted all the false wisdom this world creates, which tries to make all the pleasures of this world acceptable to God. But our God will always hate sin, will judge and punish unbelievers on each and every sin they ever commit; will punish leaders and teachers even harder for leading any to sin.
*For the time
will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit
their own desires, they will gather
around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 2Ti 4:3-4 NIV+
*O Timothy! Guard what was committed
to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions
of what is falsely called knowledge--by professing it some have
strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen. 1Ti 6:20 NKJV+
*Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know
that we who teach will be judged
with greater strictness. Ja 3:1 ESV+
*But the goal
of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting
to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters
about which they make confident
assertions. 1Ti 1:5-7 NASB+
We should not tolerate leaders or teachers who do or teach that which is evil. We should test whether the leaders and teachers (apostles) have been moved by the Holy Spirit, or an evil spirit; to see if what they teach is the truth from the Word of God. Knowing through the Word of God the Spirit will show us the truth; we can judge what our Lord would have us do, who He would have lead and teach us.
*I know your deeds and your toil and
perseverance , and that you cannot tolerate
evil men, and you put to the test
those who call themselves apostles,
and they are not, and you found them
to be false; Rev 2:2 NASB+
*Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone
out into the world. 1Jn 4:1 ESV+
Any leaders and teachers who do not follow the Word of God must be removed; or a believer needs to find another congregation or group to become part of. For temptations will come to believers; but woe comes to the one who brings or allows these temptations to come.
*"Why
don't you judge for yourselves what
is right? LK12:57
NIV+
*“Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes! Matt 18:8-9 ESV+
10. Always praying
for others, for strength for ourselves
The first and most important thing we can do is pray for others, that they will give up their human will and accept the will of our Lord. Pray that all believers including ourselves will stand up for our God. Knowing our prayers will be answered according to the will of our Father. Pray as Paul prayed for others, that all may strengthened by the Spirit; so Christ can dwell in their hearts through faith.
*This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us--whatever we
ask--we know that we have what we asked of him. 1Jn 5:14-15
NIV+
* For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power
through His Spirit in the inner man,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith; and that
you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all
the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to
know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Eph 3:14-19 NASB+
