Saved By Love

Our God is love, and we love because He first loved us.

*We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 1Jn 4:16 NASB+

*We love, because he first loved us. 1Jn 4:19 ASV

We are saved by the great love our God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have for us.

*And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 1Jn 4:16 NKJV+

*I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me. Pro 8:17 NKJV+

The love we have in our hearts for our God. We were created to love Him. We become God’s children when we love our God above all things, and our neighbors as ourselves.

*"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."  Mk 12:29-31 NIV+

*But the man who loves God is known by God. 1Co 8:3 NIV+

*But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1Co 2:9 NKJV+

We will all sin, disobey our God. Yet because our Heavenly Father loves us, He gives us a means through His Son, and a way through the Holy Spirit to have our sins forgiven. When these two free gifts are used together, our sins are forgiven, we become holy again, we become spiritually one with our God.

*for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Ro 3:23 NKJV+

*The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Co 15:56-57 NASB+

*God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. Ac 15:8 NIV+

Our Heavenly Father sent His only Son into the world to save us. The Son loved us so much that He came down from Heaven, became man, became Jesus. He gave His physical life, shed His blood on the cross, to redeem us from our sins.

*For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jn 3:16 NKJV+

*In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace Eph 1:7 NKJV+

This free gift of grace, Christ’s death on the cross, is the only means by which our sins can be forgiven. His onetime sacrifice on the cross forgives all the sins believers will ever commit.

*This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1Jn 4:10 NIV+

*And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb 10:10 NIV+

The way we are saved, have our sins forgiven, is by faith. Our Heavenly Father gives us this saving faith through the Holy Spirit.

*For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast. Eph 2:8-9 NIV+

*to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.' Ac 26:18 NKJV+

*Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. Gal 2:16 NKJV+

Our Heavenly Father freely gives the Spirit to all those He calls to be His own. All those who will surrender their human will, and accept the Spirit into our hearts. Our Father spiritually washes away all of our sins, so the Spirit can live in our hearts. Note: Some will receive the Spirit with much emotion, others very quietly. For infants, children, more info, see Baptisms of the Spirit

*For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit. 1Thess 4:7-8 NIV+

*not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, Tit 3:5

The Spirit introduces us to Jesus, shows us His grace, gives us the knowledge through the Word to know our great God, to have faith in Him.

*Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. 1Co 12:3 NKJV+

*You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. Ro 8:9 NIV+

And by that faith (way) we are sanctified, kept holy. The Spirit continually forgives our sins, by the atoning blood Jesus shed for us on the cross (means). See Forgiveness

*that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Ro 15:16 NKJV+

*And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. 1Co 6:11 NKJV+

A faith which culminates in love, works through love.

*But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1Ti 1:5 NASB+

*For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love. Gal 5:6 NASB+

Our faith is measured by the love we have for our God. A love the Spirit continually pours into our hearts.

*If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 1Co 13:2 NASB+

*Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Ro 5:5 NKJV+

A love for our God which is greater than any other love we will ever have in our lives. We will love our God more than anything in this world.

*Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. Jn 14:23 NKJV+

*"No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth."  Lk 16:13 NASB+

We will love our God more than any other person, including our wife and children, even more than ourselves, our own lives.

*He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. Matt 10:37 NKJV+

*Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. Matt 10:39 NIV+

The greatest, the strongest emotion our God will ever create is love. And our relationship to Him will always be defined by love. The incomprehensible love He has for us, and the love we will endeavor to return to Him.

*And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1Co 13:13 NIV+
