Additions, Corrections To Messages

We try to make sure all of our messages are clear, truthful, and grammatical correct to the best of our abilities. Yet I am not the sharpest tack in the box, far from the smartest one around. And as we grow in the Word, we are enlightened, learn more truths about our God, and more is revealed to us. Here we will tell you where we have added to or corrected existing messages, sometimes in content, sometimes grammatically.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit was foreshadowed by circumcision in the Old Covenant. In the Old Covenant inherited sin from Adam was removed through circumcision. Adam alone carried inherited sin, original sin of the flesh, to his offspring, and circumcision was an appropriate sign for removing this sin. But with Christ’s atoning death on the cross, all of our sins, including inherited sin, are freely forgiven by the grace of our Savior, allowing us to spiritually become one with our Savior.

*In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, Col 2:11 NIV+

*When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, Col 2:13 NASB+

Jesus was an ordinary Jewish man. There would be nothing physical that would stand out in His personal appearance. His beauty was inward, was spiritual, the love and truth in His heart for all people. This would draw many who believed in a coming Jewish Messiah to Him. Yet the majority of the Jewish people would not accept Him, would despise and reject Him. Note: There is not an original historical picture drawn of Jesus. But we know He would be an ordinary Jewish man of that day. Since Jesus was a priest He would have long hair and a beard. Highly probable He would have brown eyes.

*He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. Isa 53:2 NIV+

*He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Isa 53:3 NKJV+

10/8/11 The Birth of Jesus Clarified about a quarter down in message

When Mary returned home, and even with the loose clothing she wore, it became noticeable that she was pregnant. In some way her pregnancy was privately learned by Joseph.  It could have been noticed by her mother and her parents who then had a talk with Joseph. Perhaps when Joseph greeted Mary upon her return he noticed her condition. Or Mary could have talked with Joseph, telling him the good news of the Son of God in her womb. Yet overwhelmed him with a story he could not accept.

Joseph not wanting to expose her to public disgrace planned to quietly divorce her.

*This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. Matt 1:18-19 NIV+

An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream telling him that Mary’s baby was conceived by the Spirit. The angel told Joseph to name the child Jesus for He would save us from our sins. And Joseph was to take Mary home as his wife.

Note - Our Heavenly Father’s designed the Jewish engagement customs for the birth of Jesus. It was customary for a man and woman to be betrothed (espoused, pledged, engaged) to each other for a period of time before they were married, often a year. This commitment allowed the husband to be, Joseph, at a time of his choosing, to bring his wife to be Mary, home to live with him until they were married. The pledge to be married bound them together as though they were married, and they were often referred to as husband and wife before they were actually married. In the Matt 1:19 verse above, Matthew calls Joseph Mary’s husband while they were still betrothed, before they were married. Likewise Matthew is referring to Joseph taking Mary home as his betrothed wife, not his married wife in Matt 1:20+24. For Luke tells us in Lk 2:5 (2nd verse in next paragraph) that when Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem to be registered she was still betrothed to him, they had not been married. Mary and Joseph were probably married after her purification from having a son was completed (33 days).

The customs at that time allowed a betrothed couple to live together though they were not to have sexual relations until after they were married. Later on believers would learn Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus, her first born. This belief was strengthened by the fact Mary and Joseph were righteous believers, would not have sexual relations until they were married, they were not married until after Jesus was born. Joseph was not the father of Jesus, the Holy Spirit conceived Jesus in the womb of Mary. Yet at the time Mary became pregnant she was accepted within the Jewish community, for Joseph brought her home as his betrothed wife, and they would soon be married. This allowed Jesus to be hidden within a Jewish family until the time was right for Him to begin His ministry.

The Father had now told Joseph the secret of His Son becoming man to save us. Joseph now knew along with Mary, Elizabeth, and the baby John in her womb.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" --which means, "God with us." When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. Matt 1:20-25 NIV+

Bethlehem is where the Messiah, Jesus, would be born, as prophesized by Micah. The Heavenly Father used a Roman census to bring Joseph and Mary to the town of Bethlehem. Joseph and his unmarried betrothed wife Mary were both descendants of King David, both were required to register at David’s birth place in Bethlehem.

*"But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity." Mi 5:2 NASB+

*And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. Lk 2:1-5 NKJV+

9/20/11 What Spiritually Happened on the Cross Added below a third down in message

Jesus had the sins of the world laid upon Him, while He was on the cross. My sins, your sins, the sins of the world killed Jesus. For He could not have died if He was without sin, did not carry our sins. For sin alone causes death, and Jesus was sinless, did not inherit Adams’s sin, nor commit any sin.

*For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2Co 5:21 NKJV+

*Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinnedRo 5:12 NASB+

*"He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth." 1Pe 2:22 NIV+

Jesus also extended out this second greatest command to love our neighbors as ourselves. He gave us a new command about how we should love our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. We are to love them as Jesus loved us, and there is no greater love than this.

*A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."  Jn 13:34-35 NKJV+

*This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Jn 15:12 NKJV+

9/6/11 What Spiritually Happened on the Cross Added below to clarify, around the middle of message

Jesus was glorified by the Father after His atoning sacrifice for the sins of all believers had been accepted. For His Father had promised to glorify Him immediately after He had conquered sin through His sacrifice on the cross.

*So, when he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and glorify Him immediately. Jn 13:31-32 NKJV+

*But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. Jn 12:23-24 NKJV+

Lower down

Jesus would draw all believers, spiritually and physically, to Him after His victory on the cross. Our Savior gave His blood, His life, and His soul for our salvation. Our Heavenly Father’s plan of salvation has always required the shedding of blood to forgive our sins.

*But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die. Jn 12:32-33 NIV+

*And according to the Law , one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Heb 9:22 NASB+

*knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1Pe 1:18-19 NKJV+

Jesus was the first in every part of the Father’s plan of salvation. This included being the first to physically die and spiritually (soul and spirit) come into the Kingdom of God.

*He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. Col 1:17-18 NASB+

*he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. Ac 2:31 NKJV+

Jesus spiritually ascended to Heaven leading all the spirits and souls of the captive believers who had died behind Him. Those who were righteous under the Old Covenant, and resting in Abraham’s Bosom. Those who were waiting for the Messiah, Jesus, to come, atone for their sins, so they could come into the Kingdom of Heaven. Salvation was always first for the Jew, then for the gentile.

*But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: "When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men." (What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) Eph 4:7-10 NIV+

*For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. Heb 9:15 NASB+

*For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. Ro 1:16 NKJV+

8/22/11 God Becomes Man Added below - minor changes to 8/21/11 corrections

Our Father’s plan of salvation allowed the Son to be conceived as a holy, sinless physical man, in the womb of Mary. Original sin comes from Adam, from his seed, and will always be passed on through the seed of man. Man’s seed passes original sin to both men and women when it is combined with woman’s egg to conceive a child within her womb. Eve sinned, was part of the original sin committed in the garden, and therefore would have to die. Eve’s punishment for her original sin, inherited by all women, was hard childbirth and a desire for man under whom she would have to live. Our Father’s plan did not pass on inherited sin through Eve’s seed, would not pass inherited sin through any woman’s seed, including Mary. The Holy Spirit miraculously impregnated Jesus within Mary’s womb, using man’s seed without any inherited sin, or any other sin within it. This allowed Jesus to be conceived in holiness, without sin. Jesus is the only perfect sinless physical person who ever was conceived. The only one who was worthy to give His life as a ransom for our sins.

*To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you." Gen 3:16 NKJV+

*Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devilHeb 2:14 NIV+

* For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2Co 5:21 NKJV+

We are all given life when the Spirit creates an eternal spiritual being within our tiny mortal physical being, after it has been conceived. The Spirit creates our spiritual being holy, for He cannot create anything which is not holy. We are conceived in sin because of our physical inherited sin from Adam, from his seed, and our spiritual being can sin from its creation. Yet our spiritual being is created holy when we are given life.

*"That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Jn 3:6 NASB+

*Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor. Why do You look with favor On those who deal treacherously? Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up Those more righteous than they? Hab 1:13 NASB+

The Spirit created a holy spiritual being within the holy physical being of Jesus in Mary’s womb. The Spirit then united the Son of God’s spiritual being, which has always been, with the newly created spiritual being of Jesus the man. This is the same way believers are spiritual united with our God today. Through faith, through the atoning death of Jesus, we become spiritually holy before our God. He can then live spiritually in us, and we can spiritually live in Him.

*"In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. Jn 14:20 NASB+

*If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. Ro 8:10 NASB+

Lower down

Jesus was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit in Mary’s womb as a holy physical being, a tiny body and mind. The Spirit then created a new holy spiritual being of man within this holy physical being. Then the Spirit united the Son’s holy spiritual being with this newly created spiritual being. This created life within this tiny, physical baby who would be called Jesus. The Father’s only Son had come down to us, became man, in the womb of a virgin named Mary.

*but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. Phil 2:7 NIV+

*For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Heb 2:17 NIV+

8/6/11 Our Relationship With God Added below

Our spirit being is holy when it is created at conception, for it is created by the Holy Spirit, and our God cannot create evil. Like all angelic spiritual beings created holy in the image of God, our spirit is created mature, is able to love or reject our God from its creation. Satan, the devil, was originally an angel, and rejected God from his beginning, when he was created. Satan convinced a third of the angels to follow him in opposing God. They became fallen angels, demons, who try to destroy our relationship with our God.

*Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor. Why do You look with favor On those who deal treacherously? Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up Those more righteous than they? Hab 1:13 NASB+

*You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. Jn 8:44 NKJV+

*His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. Rev 12:4 NKJV+ Dragon is devil, stars are angels in Rev. figurative language and one third of stars were under the control of satan.

1/19/11 Specific Info - Death and Resurrection of Jesus - Additions, Corrections at beginning

The Lord required Israel to participate in symbolic Celebrations for the forgiveness of their sins. The Day of Atonement, the Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits also symbolized the coming, the death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Jesus birth, life, and death were symbolized by the scapegoat. Each year on the Day of Atonement two goats would be offered up to forgive the sins of all believers. The first goat would be slaughtered, his blood offered up as a sacrifice. The second goat, the scapegoat, would have the sins of the world put on its head and be turned out into the desert. Jesus came into the world, was born on Atonement Day, and would come out of the desert to begin His ministry. See Jesus Birth

*Then he is to take the two goats and present them before the Lord at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. He is to cast lots for the two goats--one lot for the Lord and the other for the scapegoat. Aaron shall bring the goat whose lot falls to the Lord and sacrifice it for a sin offering. But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the Lord to be used for making atonement by sending it into the desert as a scapegoat. Lev 16:7-10 NIV+

*"When Aaron has finished making atonement for the Most Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting and the altar, he shall bring forward the live goat. He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites--all their sins--and put them on the goat's head. He shall send the goat away into the desert in the care of a man appointed for the task. The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a solitary place; and the man shall release it in the desert. Lev 16:20-22 NIV+

Jesus would die as the Passover lamb, a young goat, like the one sacrificed on Atonement Day. He was crucified on the day of Passover, for it was not a Sabbath day like the Day of Atonement was. And on a Sabbath a man’s life could not be taken. Jesus replaced the need for annually offering up a goat on Atonement Day for the forgiveness of believer’s sins. For Jesus was the reality, the completeness, of that symbolic sacrifice.

Jesus would minister 3 1/2 years, making the Day of Atonement and Passover occur at the correct times for His birth, for His death. See Daniel’s Timeline

*Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb [or kid] for his family, one for each household. Ex 12:3 NIV+

*'Your lamb shall be an unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Ex 12:5 NASB+

*But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. Heb 10:3-4 NKJV+

Jesus sacrificial death was the only acceptable atonement for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus deposited all of our sins, all the sins that would ever be committed in a solitary land, in Hell. There would no longer be any need to offer up any other sacrifices for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus.

*and the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a solitary land:  Lev 16:ptn22 ASV

*Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb 10:9-10 NIV+
