The Word of God Is Spiritual

Godís Word is the greatest love story that ever will exist. It is the spiritual story of our Fatherís great love for us. His desire to have all people become His children, children who would love and obey Him. It is about Jesusí great love for those who would become His brothers and sisters. A love so great that Jesus became man, and physically died as atonement for our sins. It is about the Holy Spiritís great love for those who will accept Him into their hearts. Allowing the Spirit to lead us in the truth, hold all believers securely in the family of God.††††

*See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 1Jn 3:1 NASB+

*For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Ro 8:29 NIV+

*because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Ro 8:14-17 NIV+

The Fatherís plan to have children was started before time began, was completed before the world existed, before mankind was made. Our Father knew what would happen before He gave us a free will, that we would disobey Him and become sinful. Our Father knew His only Son would have to die upon the cross to save us from our sins. Yet our Heavenly Fatherís love and desire for us was so strong that He still created us.

*And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 1Jn 4:16 NIV+

*who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, 2Ti 1:9 NKJV+

Godís Word is a written spiritual revelation of who our great God is, about His great plan to make us His children.

The Word alone contains the spiritual truths of our great God. The truths which have always been, which will exist forever. The Word was written by men chosen by God, as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Scripture alone reveals our Fatherís plan of salvation to save those who would love Him.

*In him we were [made heirs] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, Eph 1:11 NIV+

*for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2Pe 1:21 NKJV+

We must accept the Spirit into our hearts to know the spiritual truths of our God. We must spiritually accept the power and majesty of our God to understand His plan of salvation for us, how it will be physically implemented on earth.

*and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. 1Co 2:4-5 NASB+

*for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Phil 2:13 NKJV+

We must understand our Godís spiritual plan so we can accept both the good and the evil physical events that have happened and will happen on earth. We must study, learn, and know our Godís spiritual plan of salvation in His Word, to know what physically has, is and will happen here on earth. So we can accept our status in this physical world, and resist its temptations. Knowing there is a far greater spiritual reward in Heaven.

*But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like this?" Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? Ro 9:20-21 NKJV+

*Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man of My purpose from a far country. Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it. Isa 46:11 NASB+

*And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Ro 8:28 NKJV+

Our Father rules over the two separate realms that believers now live in. We are part of, live in the spiritual Kingdom of God, as well as the physical world until our human bodies die. Godís heavenly Kingdom is total perfection. It is where we spiritually receive the peace to endure the trials and troubles of this world.

*Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Jn 14:27 NKJV+

*"These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." Jn 16:33 NASB+

The physical world the Father created on earth is total imperfection, contains every imaginable evil. Here we are given the choice of accepting or rejecting our God. We are given the choice of becoming one with Jesus, or one with the world, one with Satan. Spiritual truths help us to understand, overcome, the physical temptations we will encounter. Keep us following our Savior all the days of our lives.

*Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division. For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three. Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law." Lk 12:51-53 NKJV+

*"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-lawí; and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.' Matt 10:34-36 NKJV+

Human intelligence, political correctness, ideals of the elite, or following your own ethnic beliefs will not help you understand the Word. It only makes one change the Word to reflect their own values, their own prejudices. Our human minds can only understand physical concepts, they are neither able to comprehend nor find the spiritual truths of Godís Word.

*For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; Col 1:9-10 NASB+

*The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1Co 2:14 NIV+

One can read the Bible and understand what is physically happening. But because they do not understand the spiritual meaning, they never comprehend who God is, what He is trying to do.

*And He said, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that 'Seeing they may not see, And hearing they may not understand.' Lk 8:10 NKJV+

*This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. 1Co 2:13 NIV+

Below is an example of how spiritual truths explain the physical actions that take place throughout Scripture. That only when we understand the spiritual plan of the Father can we understand what physically happened or will happen.

Using human knowledge, in the physical world, the Romans killed Jesus to pacify an angry crowd led by the leaders of the Jewish Synagogue. The Romans soldiers whipped and then hung Jesus on a cross until He died.

*Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and plotted to take Jesus by trickery and kill Him. Matt 26:3-4 NKJV+

*"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again." Matt 20:18-19 NKJV+

But this is not the spiritual truth, what really happened, what really matters. No one killed Jesus, no one has that power. The spiritual truth is Jesus willingly died to save us. He willingly gave His life as the only sacrifice that the Father would accept as atonement for our sins. The Father merely used the evil in those who crucified Jesus to physically implement, complete His plan of salvation to save believers.

*Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?" Matt 26:53-54 NKJV+

*and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Eph 5:2 NIV+

Spiritual truths alone explain the physical actions that have or will occur on earth. We must always look for the spiritual truths that are written, that are prophesized in Godís Word. They alone define what is physically happening on earth. Spiritual truths alone give us the strength and courage to persevere until Jesus comes to take us home to Heaven.

*However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. Ro 8:9 NASB+

*In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, Eph 1:13 NKJV+

The Spirit through the Word will continually reveal more truths to us at the appropriate time.

Godís Word contains all the truths our Father would have us know, from the beginning to the end of this world. Yet some of these truths are hidden from us until the time the Father wants these truths revealed to us.

*Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. Isa 46:9-10 NIV+

*And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him. Da 2:21-22 NKJV+

The Spirit continually reveals spiritual truths, how they will be physically implemented here on earth. At the appropriate time, when we need to know them. He opens our eyes, our hearts, and our minds to understand more fully the truths, the mysteries that are present in the Word.

*In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. Eph 3:4-5 NIV+

*who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1Pe 1: 5 ASV

God truths are revealed to those who humbly love their Lord, who let the Spirit guide them in the Word. We can see prophesies that have been fulfilled, other prophesies begin to happen. As the time Jesus will return continually draws closer.

*but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey himóRo 16:26 NIV+

*Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near. Rev 1:3 NKJV+

Our human knowledge will continually increase, helping believers understand the Word. Computers help us search through the Word, put it in context. When our advance scientific technology is truthfully used, it merely confirms the Word. It shows us more clearly what took place in ancient times, and makes the physical happenings of the Word clearer.

*"But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." Da 12:4 NASB+

*And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, Col 1:10 NIV+

We must grow in the Word accepting these new truths as revealed. Growing up spiritually, accepting the spiritual truths of the Word. Although these truths will go against societyís values, and redefine long held traditions held within congregations.

*Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly--mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 1Co 3:1-2 NIV+

*Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Ro 12:11 NIV+

Always searching for the real truths in the Word, whatever they may be. Not accepting feel good half truths from society. Nor congregational traditions which some feel comfortable with, but with reality, the truth of the Word. For truth alone will set you free, keep us one with Christ.

*Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Jn 8:31-32 NKJV+

*As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, Eph 4:14-15 NASB+

Using the gifts our God has given us to the fullest of our ability. As we tell all about our Savior, in the truth of the Word.

*you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ 1Pe 2:5 NKJV+

*Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; Ro 12:6 NKJV+

While always realizing the Word, the gospel is not just words, but also spiritual power from our God. A spiritual power that enables us to know and love our God, become His children. And as His children, we will never be separated from His love.

*how that our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, 1Thes 1:ptn5 ASV

*For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ro 8:38-39 ASV
