2. Verses: Heaven; after Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross

All verses in this series can help explain each individual message

1. Jesus firstborn/firstfruits to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, when He was anointed by His Father to begin His ministry; the first to have His human spiritual being enter the Kingdom of God while living on earth.

Jesus was born on the Day of Atonement, Tishri (Sept/Oct) 10, 5BC; was symbolized as the scapegoat. The scapegoat who would have the sins of the world laid on him; who would carry these sins to Azazel, the angels who sinned (now demons) who are in Tartarus, the prison in the Abyss. And there in the most solitary land on earth, deposit them.

*Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, confess over it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, concerning all their sins, putting them on the head of the goat, and shall send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a suitable man. Lev 16:21 NKJV+

*but the goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented alive before the Lord to make atonement over it, that it may be sent away into the wilderness to Azazel. Lev 16:10 ESV+

*"The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to a solitary land; and he shall release the goat in the wilderness. Lev 16:22 NASB+

Jesus would begin His ministry about 30 years later in 26 AD (add year for crossing 0). Jesus could not begin His ministry under the Old Covenant ceremonial law until He was washed with water by a priest, to make him ceremonially righteous. Jesus came to John the baptizer at the Jordan River who was a priest of the Temple, to be ceremonially washed, be water baptized.

*Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Matt 3:13-15 ESV

Jesus was then anointed by His Heavenly Father with the Holy Spirit; was given the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was the firstborn/firstfruits; the first to receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and then be given gifts of the Spirit, as He began His ministry by overcoming satan/devil in the desert.

*Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, Lk 3:23 NIV+

*and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." Lk 3:22 NIV+

*And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness Lk 4:1 ESV+

Jesus, though the Son of God, did not have any power other than a normal man; for He was also the Son of Man. Yet since Jesus had not sinned, His spiritual being was holy and He could receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; a gift His Father wanted to give Him before He faced satan/devil in wilderness.

Jesus received all of His power through the Holy Spirit, who now lived in His human spiritual being. All others under the Old Covenant law, had to wait for His atoning grace on the cross to have their spiritual beings made holy; so their spiritual beings could come into the 2nd Heaven, the Kingdom of God, while living on earth, when they physically died.

*how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. Ac 10:38 NIV+

*“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, Lk 4:18 ESV+

Jesus would always be the firstborn/firstfruits of all the gifts of salvation given by our Heavenly Father which save us; for He is our eldest brother, the first to receive these gifts.

*And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. Col 1:18 NKJV+

2. Jesus was crucified on Nisan 14 30AD; as our sins were laid upon Him as He hung on the cross, His physical body died, went

to a grave, a tomb in the side of a rock hill, with a stone covering up the entrance.

Jesus would minister for 3½ years, then on Friday Passover/Preparation Day Nisan 14 (March/April) 30 AD, Jesus gave His life on the cross to redeem us from our sins; by allowing the Roman governor Pontius Pilate to crucify Him.

*But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?" Matt 26:52-54 NKJV+

*and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross , so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. 1Pe 2:24 NASB+

Jesus was nailed to the cross between 9-12 AM; His sacrificial blood and death on the cross was replacing the need for the daily and Passover lambs to be sacrificed which would start at 12:30. The only sacrifice our Father would accept for sin; so believers’ spiritual beings could become holy.

*By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Heb 10:10 NKJV+

*For by one offering has perfected for all time those who are sanctified Heb 10:14 NASB+

Jesus’ physical being (body and mind) could not die until our sins were placed on Him; for sin is what causes our physical being to die. And Jesus was sinless; He did not inherit Adam’s sin, nor commit any sin. He endured the curse all sinners under the law have to face; eternal death in Hell. He hung on a tree, was crucified in our place, so He could forgive the sins of all who would love Him; so our spiritual beings could become holy, we could become children of God.

*Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinnedRo 5:12 NASB+

*For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2Co 5:21 NKJV+

*Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree " Gal 3:13 NASB+

At the ninth hour (3 PM), Jesus had to endure the greatest torment and punishment of all; our sins were placed on Him and He was now forsaken, cursed by His Father.

*And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which is translated, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" 15:34 NKJV+

When Jesus then said “It is finished”; He was referring to the pain and anguish His physical body had endured, which was now to end. And Jesus gave His spiritual being into the hands of His Father; and His human body and mind died.

*When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Jn 19:30 ESV+

*Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last. Lk 23:46 ESV+

3. Because Jesus’ spiritual being carried our sins; He had to descend to the torment of Hades

Jesus was born on the Day of Atonement being symbolized as the scapegoat. The goat who would have the sins of the world laid upon Him, who would carry these sins to Azazel; to the angels who are in Tartarus, a prison in the Abyss. And there in the most solitary land on earth deposit the all the sins the world would ever commit.

Christ’s physical being was dead, yet we all have an eternal spiritual being (soul and spirit) which if holy goes to Heaven or if sinful goes to Hades when our physical being dies. And because Jesus’ eternal human spiritual being was still carrying our sins which were laid upon Him on the cross; His eternal spiritual being was sinful, descended into Hades; when His physical being died.

* For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption. Ac 2:27 ESV+

*he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. Ac 2:31 ESV+

There Jesus would have to suffer the torment of Hades in our place, to redeem us from having to go there. This was symbolized by the Passover lamb having to be roasted over flames, the same flames the rich man had to endure in Hades; for not loving God, His neighbor as himself.

*Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire--its head with its legs and its entrails. Ex 12:9 NKJV+

*And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Lk 16:24 KJV

Jesus died around 3pm, there would only be 2-3 hours left before Passover Day ended at sundown (around 6pm); then He would be in Heaven greeting the thief. This means Jesus could not have suffered in Hades more than 3 hours in our time. Remembering there is no time in the eternal world; in either Heaven or Hades, a day is like a 1,000 years (2Pe 3:8); making our hour over 40 years. So we really do not know how long Jesus had to suffer in Hades, until His Father accepted His sacrifice for our sins.

4. Jesus’ spiritual being punished until Father accepts His sacrifice; then descends Tartarus

Here our Father would accept Jesus’ sacrifice as atonement for the sins of all children of God; after His soul and spirit were made an offering for sin and suffered in Hades.

*Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. Isa 53:10 NKJV+

*[He will see the results of the suffering of his soul] and be satisfied; by [knowledge of him] my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Is 53:11 NIV+

5. Jesus deposits the world’s sins He carried and left them in Tartarus; His spiritual being was now holy, ascends into the 2nd Heaven

Jesus’ spiritual being would deposit all the sins of the world which were laid upon Him on the cross, to the most solitary place there is; the deepest part of the pit in the earth, to Tartarus the prison in the Abyss. This was symbolized when Jesus became the scapegoat on the day He was born; the Day of Atonement (1. above).

*"Then Aaron shall lay both of his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel and all their transgressions in regard to all their sins; and he shall lay them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who stands in readiness. "The goat shall bear on itself all their iniquities to a solitary land; and he shall release the goat in the wilderness. Lev 16:21-22 NASB+

*Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. Rev 9:1-2 NKJV+

* that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, Phil 2:10 NKJV+

Tartarus is used only once in the Bible, we believe it refers to special prisons in the deepest part of the Abyss where these demons who were once angels are now chained; is the 1st death for them. Hell refers to the 2nd death, when at the White Throne Judgment the demonic beings in the Abyss, and the human spiritual beings in Hades which is above the Abyss, will be thrown into Hell, the Lake of Fire forever. Should use NASB+ or NKJV+ they are correct in their use of Hades, Abyss (bottomless pit, prison, etc.), and Hell; we only differ with them on Tartarus, which we believe is a special word for the Abyss; which both interpret as Hell. See Hades, Abyss, Tartarus, Hell

Here in the deepest part of the Abyss [Tartarus], the prison where the spirits (angels now demons) who disobeyed God were chained; Jesus’ spiritual being (soul and spirit) proclaimed victory over death, over satan, to all the demons present at the prison in the Abyss; especially those spirits (angels now demons) who disobeyed God in the time of Noah (Gen 6:4).

*For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water 1Pe 3:18-20 NASB+

*But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down) or “Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). Ro 10:7 ESV+

6. All who loved God and physically died before Christ’s grace; spiritual beings lived in Abraham’s Bosom, followed Jesus coming up from the Abyss to the 2nd Heaven

Now all the spiritual beings (souls and spirits) which were waiting in Abraham’s Bosom; could be made perfectly holy by Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross. And ascend up to God’s Spiritual Kingdom of Heaven, Paradise, the 2nd Heaven; following the spiritual being of Jesus up as a train through the earthly heavens.

*For this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that, since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. Heb 9:15 NASB+

*But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: "When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men." (What "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) Eph 4:7-10 NIV+

7. Jesus firstborn/firstfruits; first spiritual being to enter the 2nd Heaven after physical body dies

Jesus’ spiritual being first to ascend into 2nd Heaven after His physical body died

Jesus was the firstborn, our eldest brother; as the firstborn Jesus was the first to complete everything in His Father’s plan of salvation. This included being the first person born of a woman whose spiritual being (soul and spirit) would ascend into Heaven, after His physical body (body and mind) died. And through Christ’s atoning grace on the cross, we can become adopted sons and daughters of God; and will like Jesus have our spiritual beings taken to Heaven when our physical being dies.

*For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Ro 8:29 ESV+

*He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, Eph 1:5 NASB+

8. Jesus entered most holy place Temple in 2nd Heaven; to redeem us from our sins

The world had to wait to be made holy, until Jesus was presented at His Father’s Temple in Heaven after ascending there from His triumph in the Abyss. Jesus entered in to the Most Holy Place in the Temple where our Father forgives our sins in Heaven; and secured eternal redemption for all who had and will become children of God; by the blood He shed on the cross.

*When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. Heb 9:11-12 NIV+

9. Christ’s grace, was first for the Jew, then the Gentile; all spiritual beings from Abraham’s Bosom come into the 2nd Heaven

Our Father’s plan of salvation would always be first for the Jews then for the Gentiles; that is why after Jesus spiritually ascended into the Kingdom of God (Heaven, Paradise) on Passover Day (Good Friday); the spiritual beings of the Old Covenant of Israel in Abraham’s Bosom would be the first to follow Jesus into the 2nd Heaven.

*I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Ro 1:16 NIV+

*For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, Ro 15:8 ESV+

10. The 40 year transition period begins; one can love God, obey Old Covenant ceremonial laws or love Jesus; and when body dies, spiritual being goes into the 2nd Heaven

After Christ’s atoning grace on the cross, God gave Israel a 40 year transition period God to change from following the Old Covenant ceremonial laws; to accepting Jesus into their hearts as their Savior. From Passover 30 AD to Passover 70 AD when the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed; those who followed the Old Covenant ceremonial laws would come into the 2nd Heaven when they physically died. Just as God gave Israel 40 years after He rescued them from Egypt, to obey His ways or they could not enter into His Rest called Abraham’s Bosom.

*When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work. For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, 'It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.' So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest.' " Ps 95:9-11 NKJV+

11. Under Jesus’ grace; when the thief on cross physical body died, his spiritual being went to the 2nd Heaven

Just as the day Christ was crucified was ending; Jesus would welcome the thief on the cross spiritual being into the 2nd Heaven. The criminal on the cross, might have been the first person who physically died under Christ’s sacrificial grace on the cross; for Jesus died just before this thief. And Jesus could now provide the means by which the criminal’s sins could be forgiven, so his spiritual being (soul and spirit) could come into Paradise, the 2nd Heaven. For this criminal believed Jesus was God, had faith in Jesus, which is the way his sins were forgiven.

*But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.”  Lk 23:40-41 ESV+

*Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." Lk 23:42-43 NKJV+

When Roman soldiers came to break the legs of those on the cross so they would die before the Jewish Sabbath; Jesus had already physically died around 3 PM. The other 2 criminals would have their legs broken sometime later so they would not be able to hold themselves up to breathe and die so they all could be taken down around 5PM, and be buried before sundown.

*Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. Jn 19:31 NIV+

*but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. Jn 19:33 NASB+

The thief asked Jesus to remember him, when Jesus would come into His Kingdom. Jesus’ Kingdom was not Abraham’s Bosom, but His Father’s Kingdom in Heaven, Paradise, where Jesus would sit at the right hand of His Father.

12. The thief on cross spiritual being was greeted by Jesus I the 2nd Heaven; the same day they were crucified together

*Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." Lk 23:42-43 NKJV+

The verse below shows all whose spiritual beings were saved from the beginning to just before Jesus returns to gather us up to Him in the clouds over earth (rapture); are in the 2nd Heaven, the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of Heaven; where God’s Throne now resides. They will come into the other 2 Kingdoms of God to come later in this series are; Christ’s 1,000 year Kingdom on Earth, and God’s New Heaven and earth which will be eternal.

*I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matt 8:11 ESV+
